Skater Spotlight:

With our next competition tomorrow, we bring you our next skater spotlight! Emily is an Environmental Science major from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Here is what she has to say about this year:

This season has been really fun! Our team skates so well together and it is hard to believe that many of us have only skated together for a few months. I have enjoyed spending time with everyone on and off the ice.
Last season was my first time trying synchronized skating. We were also lucky to have large group of awesome seniors to lead our team. This year, because many members of our team graduated, and I am no longer new to synchro, I have gotten to be more of a leader on the team. This definitely gives this season a different vibe than last season, but it has been fun and I am excited about taking on even more of a leadership role the next couple of years.
The best part about winter break bootcamp is probably the reality tv marathons that we have when we are not skating. After a long, productive day on the ice, nothing beats hanging out with my teammates and enjoying some great food along with some “America’s Next Top Model.”
At Synchro Illinois this weekend, I am looking forward to showing the changes we made to our program. I feel really confident after our practices this week. Also, I am looking forward to Portillo’s.
My goals for the rest of the season are for our team to skate our program the best we can. We have so many talented girls, and I want to see us really show off our strengths. I am looking forward to a strong performance at sectionals. I think our team has the potential to do really well.
